Big Things PDX aims to promote music, poetry, art, activism, local people and much more! big things was founded in February of 2016. Currently, the hosts and curators of big things pdx include mason mimi (they/them), ol' dirty pace (she/her), and will (he/him).
The radio show 'big things' airs every Saturday from 5pm-7pm on the KPSU (portland state university's college radio) live stream. The radio show showcases (mostly) local portland musicians, poets, storytellers and much more, with live in-studios and interviews, plus games being played on-air. The radio show also features differently themed playlists curated by the hosts (will, mimi, and odp), a special hotseat/gameseat guest every week, and radical politics are often discussed on the show! If you would like to be on the show, either in our quick hotseat/gameseat or for a live in-studio and interview, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, and check the Calendar Page for what's coming up on the shows and when we have open shows! You can listen back to podcasts on our Podcast Page.
The big things open mics are being reamped! These open mics aim to be inclusive, will not tolerate bigotry in any form, and are a lot of fun!! Check the Calendar Page for upcoming open mics, which happen monthly.

As a community, big things recognizes the oppressive systems (i.e. capitalism, racism, sexism, heteronormativity, classism, ableism, cisnormativity, transmisogyny, etc.) that we live in, and we actively fight against these systems as well as continue to push ourselves to unlearn the oppressive behaviors that have been ingrained into us.
